Please reach me at shanna@lokahiintegratedtherapy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I offer both options to accommodate your lifestyle and comfort level. You can choose to meet for in-person sessions at my office in Missoula or utilize secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth video sessions from the comfort of your own home as long as you are in Montana.
Our initial session is a collaborative intake focused on getting to know you. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, your personal history, and what goals you hope to achieve. It is also an opportunity for you to see how it feels to work with me and ensure we are a good therapeutic fit.
My clinical practice is holistic, integrative, and trauma-informed. I weave together traditional evidence-based talk therapies (like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) with EMDR and body-centered somatic psychology to help you process challenges on a mental, physical, and spiritual level and find deep healing.
Traditional talk therapy helps you process thoughts and emotions cognitively, while somatic therapy addresses how those same emotions, stressors, and traumas are physically stored in your nervous system. Combining them allows us to heal both the mind and the body, leading to deeper, more integrated relief.
No. You are welcome to participate strictly in traditional psychotherapy, focus solely on therapeutic yoga, or blend the two. We will discuss your goals during our initial consultation and design a path that feels safe and supportive for you.
A standard yoga class focuses on general fitness, traditional sequencing, and group flow. A therapeutic yoga session functions as a clinical wellness intervention. It is a slow, highly customized, one-on-one practice designed to manage specific conditions—like chronic anxiety, trauma, or stress-induced pain—using evidence-based somatic tools, targeted movement, and breathwork
Not at all. Therapeutic yoga has nothing to do with flexibility, touching your toes, or mastering complex postures. If you can breathe, you can practice. Every movement is completely adapted to your current physical capability, comfort level, and energy on any given day.
Wear any comfortable, soft clothing that allows you to move and breathe easily (sweatpants, leggings, or loose t-shirts are perfect). If we are meeting virtually, you will just need a quiet space and a yoga mat or a supportive chair. All other props can be substituted with household items like pillows and blankets.
Life coaching is a forward-focused, goal-oriented partnership designed to help you bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. While traditional coaching focuses heavily on strategy and action, my approach is holistic and somatic. We don't just focus on mindsets, strategies, and external goals; we also tap into your body's wisdom to release subconscious blocks, align your daily habits with your core values, and create sustainable personal or professional transformation.
Therapy focuses on healing and recovery, helping you process past trauma, reduce emotional distress, and manage mental health conditions. Life coaching is forward-focused and goal-oriented, designed to help you clarify your vision, overcome blocks, and build actionable momentum toward your future.
I require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee, as that time has been reserved exclusively for you.
